Drs. Tan, Lewis, Andros, Sawhney, Burns, Nguyen, Manecke, and Marks are very much interested in education and academics and attend many postgraduate courses and meetings during the year.

They are members of a number of professional societies, are authors and coauthors of many scientific papers, and regularly present lectures on various urological topics. These activities enable them to maintain a clinical practice, which is aimed at providing their patients with the best medical and urological care.

Our practice also includes Douglas Stevens, our physician assistant who has been with us since June 2003.


 Ernesto T. Tan, M.D.Ernesto T. Tan, M.D.

Dr. Tan earned his bachelor of science degree and his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manilla, Philippines. He performed his general surgical residency at the United States Air Force Hospital at Clark Air Base and at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Tan completed his urology residency at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center and Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Dr Tan is a member of many professional societies including the American Urological Association, Chicago Urological Society, Chicago Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Lewis Gregory A. Lewis, M.D.

Dr. Lewis is a native of the Chicago area. He received his bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and graduated cum laude from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He performed his general surgery internship at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and completed his training in urology at VA Hines/Loyola University, including a six-month rotation in pediatric urology at Children's Memorial Hospital. He is a member of a number of honorary medical societies.

Dr. Lewis is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Andros Gregory J. Andros, M.D.

Dr. Andros is a native of the Des Plaines area. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Florida, graduated Phi Kappa Phi, and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. He received his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Andros completed his general surgery internship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, and completed his training in urology at VA Hines/Loyola University, including a six-month rotation in pediatric urology at Children's Memorial Hospital.

He is a member of a number of honorary medical societies and was the first-place winner in the Charles B. Huggins, M.D. resident essay contest in clinical research. He has written many articles for publication and abstracts. Dr. Andros was also a participant in the 1998 Urological Nursing Conference, with a scientific presentation of anatomy and physiology of the genitourinary system. Dr. Andros is certified by the American Board of Urology.

 Sandeep Sawhney, M.D.Sandeep Sawhney, M.D., F.R.C.S.

Dr. Sawhney earned his undergraduate degree from Vanier College in St. Laurent, Quebec, and his medical degree from Mcgill University in Montreal, Quebec. He performed his urological and surgical residencies at Montreal Children's Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, University of Sherbrooke in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec.

Dr. Sawhney is a member of the American Urological Association, the Canadian Urological Association, and the American Medical Association. He is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Dr. BurnsThomas E. Burns, M.D.

Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1989. He received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1994 and performed a residency in general surgery at Loyola University Medical Center until 1996. He then pursued his residency in urology, also at Loyola Medical Center. Dr. Burns joined the practice in July 2000.

Dr. Burns is involved in advancing the field of urology. He publishes articles and presents papers at professional urological assemblies, and he has candidate member status in the American Urologic Association and the North Central Section of the AUA. His specialties include urologic emergencies, renal disorders, bladder imaging, and transplant surgery. Dr. Burns is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Thai T. Nguyen, M.D.Thai T. Nguyen, M.D.

Dr. Nguyen graduated from Yale University with a bachelor of arts degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry in 1994. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1998. He subsequently completed a residency in urology in 2003, as well as a Endourological Society accredited fellowship in laparoscopic surgery and endourology in 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a Fellow Associate in the University of Iowa Deparment of Urology, Dr. Nguyen was actively involved in resident education and was voted Teacher of the Year by the urology residents.

Dr. Nguyen sub-specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures, including laparoscopic renal surgery (nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, cryoablation/cryotherapy, pyeloplasty), laparoscopic prostatectomy and robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (a.k.a. da Vinci prostatectomy, robot prostatectomy), laser vaporization of the prostate, endoscopic kidney stone surgery, and no-scalpel vasectomy.

Dr. Nguyen is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association and the Endourological Society.

Ryan G. Manecke, M.D. Ryan G. Manecke, M.D.

Dr. Manecke graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, with a bachelor of science degree in biology, Magna Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1995. Dr. Manecke performed his internship and general surgical and urology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, from 1995 to 2001. His residency included 11 months of training in pediatric surgery and pediatric urology at Loyola University Medical Center and Children's Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Manecke is a member of the Chicago Urologic Society, the American Urologic Association, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists. He has paricipated in research and authored articles and book chapters on the topics of prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, and the surgical treatment of advanced testis cancer. Dr. Manecke is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Constance Marks, M.D.Constance Marks, M.D.

Dr. Constance Marks graduated from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, summa cum laude, with her bachelors degree in biology and chemistry in May 1995. She earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, in 2001. Dr. Marks served her residency at Glickman Urological Institute, Cleveland, OH, from 2001 to 2007. She was awarded the International Volunteers in Urology Traveling Fellowship in 2006. Dr. Marks joins the practice in September 2007.

Dr. Marks is a member of the American Urological Association, the National Medical Association, and Phi Beta Kappa. She has presented many urological topics nationally and active in urological community service programs.

Douglas S. Stevens, M.M.S., PA-CDouglas S. Stevens, M.M.S., PA-C

Douglas earned his bachelor of science degree at Indiana State University in Terra Haute, Indiana, in 1997 and his master's of medical science degree, physician assistant studies at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1999. He is board certified in primary care and surgery by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Douglas served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1991 to 1994.
